































Not much needs to be said about Lillian Bassman’s impressive body of fashion photography work that spanned the 1940s to the 1960s; the pictures speak for themselves. Shooting mostly for Harper’s Bazaar, her high contrast black and white style is characterised not just by artistic flair but by a perpetual leaning towards all things elegant. While the fashion changes across a decade, the elegance of Bassman’s subjects does not.
